Making Yogurt The Simple Way - Simple, natural yogurt that tastes good! - { NaturallyBlessedMama.com }

Well, it's that time again. Our family has eaten all the yogurt so it's time to start another batch. I thought you guys might want to see how I make it. This time it came out a little thin but it still tastes delicious. It is not nearly as sour as the yogurt from the store. That is one of the reasons why I love homemade yogurt! I use a yogurt maker but it's not absolutely necessary. I usually use organic milk so for a quart of yogurt you will need 4 1/2 cups of organic milk. You will also need at least 1/2 cup of starter. I use Simple Truth Organic Yogurt or Stonyfield Organic Yogurt as my starter. Before I start, I make sure the yogurt starter is sitting out where it can get it to room temperature. This is a perfect project to do in the morning when teaching the kids since it doesn't take a lot of attention. Just remember if you forget it and the temp goes below 100 degrees - DO NOT reheat it. I did this and it came out so lumpy everyone hated it. Lumpy yogurt is bad - I mean really bad!!! ha ha  Anyway, if you don't forget it - it will turn out perfect and it is absolutely delicious with blueberries or strawberries!! Our son even likes it with vanilla too. Enjoy and be healthy!!!!
