Tasty Guacamole Finished 4

Have you ever ordered Guacamole from a restaurant and was so disappointed with such a bland taste? No zap of flavor - absolutely no tang - just mushed avocados with miserable-looking tomatoes.

So, I had to come home and make my own recipe. Forget the guacamole at the restaurant! So, I started mixing and cutting and wa-laa. This is what I got!!! I was so excited!! It tasted so good - even if I did say so. hehe

To start off, you will need a few ingredients on hand:

Fresh Cilantro    (Dried cilantro can be used when in a pinch - I keep this on hand if organic fresh cilantro isn't                                               available.)

Lime Juice        (I also use Lime essential oil if I need something quick and don't have time to run to the store. It                                         works great as well.)

Fresh Garlic      (Minced garlic can be used if in a pinch - I always keep minced garlic on hand in case I don't                                                have organic fresh garlic. )

8 Avocadoes

4 - 5 Ripe Tomatoes

  Sea Salt

Tasty Guacamole Finished 3Make sure you have ripe avocados by pushing a little on their skin. If you feel the skin give in to your gentle push, then they are ready to eat. They have a sweet taste to them at this point of ripeness. Is that a word? I think I just made up another English word!!  Oh, well. You guys know what I mean.

So, let's get on with mixing this yummy stuff together - first, grab you a good knife and start peeling the avocados. I mash the avocados in a plate instead of my Ninja since our family likes chunks of avocado in our guacamole. The kids hate pureed guacamole!

Place the mashed avocados in a large mixing bowl.

Dice all the tomatoes and then add them to the bowl of avocados.  At this point, stir in the lime juice before the avocados turn brown.

Fresh cilantro only makes the guac taste better. I also mince fresh garlic. If you don't want to mince the garlic by hand, this is where I like to buy minced garlic in a jar. Thrive Market has great prices with little or no shipping. If you are using fresh garlic, you will want to use a Pampered Chef garlic press. You don't have to even peel the garlic! I haven't found a better garlic press.

And then a touch of salt tops if off!

Stir all these ingredients together and you're finished. Sometimes, our kids just eat guacamole for dinner since it is almost a complete meal when you include some chips.

My husband even loves it and he's really picky.  So, try it out and treat your family with a healthy snack. Have fun and enjoy!!!!

What type of guacamole do you like?

Do you like it tart with a bit of a kick?

Or do you like it mellow and smooth?

  2. Cool! Our kids love it. Since it's a great healthy snack, sometimes I let our kids make a meal of it - that way I don't have to cook so much. I hope you like it.

  5. I've never tried making guacamole before. My avocados usually don't make it past my morning smoothie. ;) Looks tasty, though! Thanks for sharing it with us at Allergy Free Thursdays!
